Lismore Comprehensive 5-10 St Mark’s Warrenpoint 2-9

A BLISTERING opening 15 minutes by Lismore Comprehensive against the holders St Mark’s Warrenpoint in this Danske Bank Paddy O’Hara Cup semi-final yesterday ultimately sealed a spot in the final for the north Armagh school.

Callum Starkey planted the ball in the St Mark’s net after just 20 seconds and goals from Cahal McGinty and Ciaran McGeown made it 3-2 to 0-2 at the end of the first quarter.

St Mark’s recovered their composure before the break and, helped by a goal from Thomas Travers, closed the gap to 3-4 to 1-6 at the break.

Lismore hit the ground running once more at the start of the second half with four points in a row. But back came the south Down side with a goal from Chris Killen and, entering the last ten minutes, it was anyone’s game at 3-9 to 2-9.

But Lismore were in no mood to be denied on the day and closed the game out with goals from Leo Monterio and a second for Ciaran McGeown.

The second semi-final between Aquinas Grammar and Holy Cross Strabane is scheduled for Friday afternoon, while the final will be played after the Halloween break.
