Danske Bank Rannafast Cup Final
Omagh CBS 2-14 St.Pats Maghera 2-16

Omagh CBS narrowly missed out on winning the Rannafast Cup Final at The Dub in Belfast on Wednesday evening as St.Pats Maghera gained revenge for their loss in the Oisin McGrath decider the last time that these two crossed paths.

A brilliant start to the second half from the Derry lads gave them a healthy lead and while the Brothers fought right to the final whistle their efforts just came up short. It was Omagh who greeted the half time whistle with their noses just in front, 2-6 to 1-8. Cahir Cassidy bagged a 3rd minute goal for them and that was followed by four points one of which was an orange flag from midfielder Tom Gallen. Sionan McCormack then got a Maghera goal with the inform Tadgh Bradley taking his first half haul to six points including a brace of two pointers. Omagh though rersponded with a Dara Burns goal either side of points from half back duo Caolan McKinney and Conor Fyffe to lead 2-6 to 1-8 at the break.

Don Mulholland, Bradley and Ronan O’Loughlin reeled off three points in as many minutes on the restart and when Joey Griffin found the net moments later Maghera had a grip on proceedings. Burns and Cahir O’Donnell traded points as did Aodhan Corry and McCormack before Omagh staged a revival. McKinney, Daniel McGurren, Gallen and Corry landed four points without reply to leave just three between the sides to sety up a tense finish. Midfielder McCormack settled Maghera nerves with a point and even though Omagh had the final say with a Matthew Garrity two pointer it came too late in the day to save them.
