? Paddy O’Hara Cup FINAL?
?⚫️ St. Mark’s – 2.07
?⚪️ Baileborough – 1.06
Another Ulster Championship for St. Mark’s!
Congratulations to the U15 lads and their coaches who overcame a very strong Baileborough, Cavan today to win the Paddy O’Hara Cup.
St. Mark’s got off to a great start, with a goal and three points from Pearse Cunningham, putting the Warrenpoint men into a comfortable early lead. The Baileborough lads countered with a goal and three points before Daire Trainor put the ball over the bar, quickly followed by a goal from Dylan Kelly just before half time .
St. Mark’s went into the second half four points up but had a strong wind to play against. A very intense thirty minutes followed with a lot of physical football on display from both teams. Baileborough were putting points on the board, closing the gap on the St. Mark’s lead and Baileborough’s strong back line were making it difficult for the St. Mark’s lads to retaliate, however, Keelan Clerkin and Ryan Coulter managed to prevail putting exceptional point’s on the board. Both teams were battling to the very end and in the game’s final minutes Ryan Coulter had a chance for a superb point, narrowly missing and hitting the post, but Sam Murdock swooped in to fire the ball over the bar. The game was over and the Paddy O’Hara cup was coming home to St. Mark’s.
Player’s of the match today were Pearse Cunningham and Eoin McCaffrey. These lads put in exceptional performances today and have consistently done so all year. Well done!
Many thanks to our sponsors, Murdock Hardwood for their continued support for the school and our sport’s teams.
A huge congratulations to Mr D O’Hare and Mr Lively who have worked tirelessly with these boys week in, week out all year, preparing them for every game and playing a major role in getting the lads here today.
These boy’s have worked incredibly hard all year, with many only finishing a long campaign with the U16s and U14s before going straight into U15 football, as well as their other sporting commitments outside of school. Congratulations lads you have done the school, your parents, your clubs and yourselves extremely proud.
