Coaching Clinic in St Columban’s Kilkeel
October 03, 2017St Columban’s Kilkeel provide quality line-up at Coaching Clinic!
All GAA coaches and managers are always looking that extra edge, searching for that latest training craze or fad, touring the country to seminars, conferences and courses in pursuit of an increase to their coaching knowledge. On Saturday October 28th, Steven Poacher, Head of PE in St Columbans Kilkeel will give you that opportunity with the now annual and well renowned “St Columbans GAA Coaching Clinic.” The structure of the clinic will be two practical outdoor themes and an indoor themed coaching forum in an action packed day. The two outdoor observational practical sessions, one delivered by Peter Donnelly, current Tyrone Senior Football Coach on the theme “Developing Effective Transition Play” and a second outdoor practical session will be delivered by Steven Poacher, current Carlow Senior Football Coach with the theme “Effective Use of Small Sided Games.” After a cup of tea and refreshments, there will be a top class line up for the indoor Coaching forum, including current Kilcoo Manager Paul McIver, Carlow Senior Football Manager Turlough O Brien, Peter Donnelly Tyrone Senior Coach and leading Gaa Journalist Declan Bogue.
This is surely one of the strongest line-ups at any coaching course held in the province and one of the finest St Columban’s have had with some of the most innovative and tactically astute coaches and managers in the modern game with a wealth of both playing and coaching experience. Coaches will get an opportunity to witness two top class practical sessions lasting approximately 50minutes each and demonstrated by a panel of players. Coaches will then get a short break for Tea/coffee and refreshments before the unique indoor coaching forum which will last approximately 60mins where coaches will have an opportunity for a short question and answering session with the high level coaching guests with the day hopefully finishing up around 1.30pm.
The event is open to all coaches of any age level be it school, club or county or any code as the games and drills on show will be easily transferrable to both Camogie and Hurling. The day commences at 10am on the Saturday morning 28th October and the cost of the day is £15 which can be made payable on the day and includes, tea/coffee, snack and an information booklet with sample training sessions.
