Ulster Schools GAA celebrated another memorable night of excellence at the annual Danske Bank All-Star Awards, held on Friday evening (April 24) in the Crowne Plaza Belfast, as the province’s top school footballers and hurlers were honoured for their outstanding performances throughout the 2025/26 season.

The prestigious event once again highlighted the strength and depth of schools’ Gaelic games across Ulster, with players, coaches, teachers and families gathering to recognise the achievements of the year’s elite performers.

Football All-Stars shine

In football, the All-Star selection reflected a highly competitive MacRory Cup campaign, with strong representation from leading schools across the province. MacRory Cup champions Abbey CBS Newry were particularly prominent following their success this season, while a wide spread of schools and counties underlined the depth of talent on show.

Players from across Ulster were recognised for their consistency, skill and impact throughout the campaign, with several schools celebrating landmark achievements and first-time winners on the night.

Hurling excellence recognised

The hurling awards reflected another outstanding season, with strong representation from traditional hurling strongholds as well as emerging schools. The selections showcased the continued development of the game at post-primary level, with players earning recognition for their performances across provincial and All-Ireland competitions.

A number of schools enjoyed multiple award winners, while the diversity of representation highlighted the growing strength of hurling across Ulster Schools GAA.

Special guests address the audience

The audience was addressed by special guest speaker Vickey Davies of Danske Bank, who congratulated the players on their achievements and praised the role of schools, teachers and volunteers in supporting young athletes. She also reaffirmed Danske Bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting Ulster Schools GAA and youth sport across the province.

Also speaking on the night was Gina Savage, principal of Abbey CBS, who reflected on her school’s proud tradition within Ulster Schools GAA and commended the dedication shown by students both on and off the field. She highlighted the importance of balancing sporting success with academic and personal development, praising all nominees for their commitment throughout the year.
