St Patrick’s Academy 2-13 0-14 S W Donegal
Two goals, six minutes apart midway through the second half ensured safe passage to the quarter finals of this year’s MacRory Cup, for the Academy at the expense of their Donegal counterparts in Stewartstown.
A dominant opening quarter saw the Tyrone school race to a five nil advantage, with James Mulgrew, Michael Hughes, Darragh Devlin, Charlie Maguire and Aodhan Quinn all on target.
The Donegal amalgamation began to settle with Shane and Gavin Sweeney on target before Eoin Long and Jonah Feeney found their range to maintain their advantage at the interval, leading 7-4.
Dungannon opened the scoring in the second half but SW Donegal fought back and a two pointer from Joey Cole brought them right back into it.

In the 38th minute the Academy found the net, Dungannon were finding success with their direct running and when Mulgrew combined with Long, he had the presence of mind to centre for Liam McGeary to palm to net.
At the start of the final quarter the game was effectively ended Darragh Devlin drove through a gap, before picking his spot and the lead was eight.
Eoin Long brought his total to five and Davin McKeown was also on target as Dungannon qualified for the last eight.
Donegal did kick two outstanding two pointer from Sweeney and McDevitt late on, but the referee brought an end to their late revival as St Patrick’s won by five.
